‘My ears are still ringing from that little 318-hp Detroit’
September 12, 2011 | by: By Todd Cain as told to Lucinda Coulter
“I started riding ‘shotgun’ in my dad’s Pete cabover when I was 3 years old. I remember looking at the pictures in Overdrive magazine, which he gave me to keep me quiet: That was 40 years ago.
“I spent my childhood and teen years riding coast-to-coast and learning from the best. In 1989, as soon as I turned 21 years old, I got my first long-haul trucking job. In 1992, I bought my first truck, and two years later, I owned three trucks.
“I’m no longer an owner, but I’m still a long-haul trucker. I pull haz-mat tankers for Miller Transporters, and I’m in my 22nd year of accident-free trucking.
“My ear are still ringing from that little 318-hp Detroit, and I’m still a big fan of Overdrive. Thank you, Guys, for some great memories.
